I was super excited to see Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week had the theme of “sky”. Seriously, if it’s possible to have an addiction to photographing sunsets – then I have it. I was looking through my photos and there must be hundreds of photos of them. Now, I realise the theme this week doesn’t specify “sunset sky” – any sky will do. But if I start including every shot I have of the sky … we’ll all be here a very, very long time. And I know you are all busy people with lives outside the blogosphere. So I will resist the temptation to flood your day with a million skies and give you a few. Okay, quite a few. Feel free to let me know which are your favourites!
Wow, these are all spectacular Kim but that first one really took my breath away. Proof that sometimes the best things are tight on our doorstep. 🙂

I agree, Miriam! That would have to be the reddest sky I’ve ever seen, it was just mind blowing in its intensity 🙂

The massive blue expanse with its various hues, so well captured Kim !!

Thank you, Radhika! I can’t get enough of the sky but photos never seem to quite capture the reality because of that expanse 🙂

Fabulous pics! I love all of them. That sunset from your backyard is awesome! And I love the Namibian sunrise. I never make sunrise. And the sunset in KNP.
I better check the fun challenge out. I could be a little worse than you because I take pictures of the sky and clouds any time. I actually wanted to add a category in my blog just for Sunsets and Skies and my “focus group” (my son and his friend) didn’t agree with what I wanted to call it. I even forgot about it. Haha!

Haha! Thanks, Anne. I never make sunrise either, that was such a rare moment lol. But they can be just as beautiful. Like yourself I’ll photograph the sky & cloud at pretty much anytime when it’s looking interesting! It could be an entire blog on its own lol. But I think your focus group is probably right 😂

A site for all things sun and sky. Okay, fine, I’ll drizzle my new website with them. 😂😝
Happy to know another non-early-morning person. 😄

Gosh those took my breath away. Each as good as the other. I love capturing sunsets and sunrises too Kim.
Thank you for these mind blowing shots. Hugs

Thanks, Natasha! Nice to find yet another sunset/sunrise fan 🙂 although in fairness, I’m not a morning person so I rarely see a sunrise!

I love sunsets, too, and also take photos of them. But mine are no where near as good as yours! Those are fabulous, and thanks for sharing them, Kim.

Oh! Thank you, Ann. That’s very kind of you. I just love all the colours. Having said that though, a brilliant blue cloudless sky is quite beautiful in itself too.

I love photographing skies as well, especially sunsets. They are so rewarding and spectacular. Like you, I have hundreds of them in my digital files. Hard to pick a favorite of yours! Even after seeing thousands of sunsets over the water from our boat, the sun sinking behind a watery horizon is still my favorite sunset image! 🙂

Thank you! I agree, Liesbet. Sunsets always look that extra bit special over water. It’s not something I get to see in Sydney though, being on the east coast we get sunrises over the ocean instead. I imagine that view from your boat is one you miss from time to time.

Wow, these are all such beautiful shots. But there’s just something about sunrise at Sossuvlei that speaks louder to me. Would love to see it live.

Thank you! That sunrise was incredible. Not being a morning person I don’t see many sunrises so I was so surprised at the strength of those vivid colours. Sossusvlei well worth visiting.

Love all of them, Kim. The sky meeting the sea is the perfect balance of contrasting elements — even if it’s just an illusion. 🙂

Lovely captures. You can only sense eternity of skymass in front of a sea, either neverending. Truly reliving my travels from 3 months back.

Have a look at my blog which is basically WIP and I am having a hard time sorting the pictures, post processing and using them.
