So I recognise I’ve been AWOL from my blog for a while. Again. What can I say? I’m a serial offender. But in my efforts to, at the least, catch up with some blog reading I found this fun little challenge for book lovers on the Secret Library Book Blog (who in turn found it on Books and Me!). Being an avid reader I couldn’t resist giving it a go. So, what’s required?
Find a book on your bookshelves that contains (either on the cover or in the title) an example for each category. You must have a separate book for all 20, get as creative as you want and do it within five minutes!! (or longer if you have way too many books on way too many overcrowded shelves!) So here goes!

So there’s my 20. I probably could’ve had multiple books for most of those categories so it was challenge enough trying to narrow it down and settle on just one!

Thanks, Nicki. This was such a great challenge. I had such a lengthy list of books at the end but I can tell you there were a couple of categories I did struggle with! Hopefully there’ll be another similar challenge, with new categories, at a later date 😀

Oh wow!!! I wrote down every single book you have listed here except for two because I’ve read them. I LOVE to read and your choices are phenomenal! I am very picky regarding the books I read refusing to read junk. Thank you so much, Kim! 🌺🌸

Oh that’s great news, Amy!! I love discovering new books through what friends are reading or recommending, so I’m so glad you found so many here that were of interest! I’m toying with just doing a short post every three months or so on what I’ve been reading so I might try that out too. Which were the two books you’d already read?

To answer your question, Kim, I read the Clan of the Cave Bearer (full series) and The Boy In the Striped Pajamas. I also saw the movie which has stayed with me for a long time. It was just so haunting, horrifying, and heartbreaking. I would be very interested in reading your post every 3 months or so because I am always on the lookout for good books to read. Come tomorrow, I’m contacting our local library to reserve 4 or 5 of the books you recommended as I start checking off which ones to read. Thank you so much again!!! 😘

What a fun challenge, Kim. I bet it took you longer than five minutes to come up with the selection? You must have many books on your shelves. I would never be able to do this challenge. I don’t read enough (lack of time), but more importantly, I don’t have books nor book shelves, as I live on the road. 🙂

You’re so right, Liesbet. It took me a lot longer than 5 minutes, as I had to go through a few bookshelves and then tackle the contents on my Kindle! I love a good paperback but I find the kindle books much more convenient nowadays. I can see how you wouldn’t have a lot of time for reading though, you lead a very “on the go” lifestyle! 😀

Welcome back, Kim! 🙂 It was fun reading this post. It also gives me an interesting collection of books to add to my growing list. I’ve started reading books again after a really long gap. Hope to pick up the pace. Now that you’re back, do you think you will write posts on your travels to Africa? 🙂

Thanks for the warm welcome back, Cheryl. Hopefully you find something in my book list that helps you continue with your renewed interested in reading! I have been thinking about whether to write about the most recent trip to Africa … I will probably do something, but it might not have much detail. I’ve been feeling like I kinda want to keep it a bit to myself … which in turn has me thinking maybe I do a post first on why I feel like I don’t want to share much about the big 40th birthday trip. Still weighing up which directions I want to go 🙂

Loved your choices Kim. I’ve only read four of these. I remember reading Jean M Auel’s books years ago and loving them. These days I don’t read nearly as much as I used to. Might have to change that. 🙂

Thank you, Miriam! Which were the other books you’ve read? I admit it was years ago that I read that Jean M Auel series but I loved them as well … they seem totally different to everything else that’s out there. I find I read every day now, without fail, usually for a couple of hours at least. 🙂
