About

About me huh? How to answer that! As an introvert and someone who doesn’t like to be the centre of attention, writing a blurb about myself is tough. I guess that begs the questions though … why start a blog? Lets call it a compulsion to write.

A clear plan is probably a great idea when starting a blog and to be honest, I have none. As the owner of an overactive, over-analytical mind, I imagine these pages will be filled with random thoughts on every day matters. I’m an avid traveller. I have an unrelenting need to get out and explore the world. Meet new people, see new countries, experience new cultures – that kind of thing. No doubt many of my future travels will make it into these pages as well. As will my burgeoning interest in photography.

So. I guess I will write and share a little of my life and through reading it, you and I together … we shall find out about me.

This so resonated with me. I too am trying to find myself through my writing. Thanks for the follow. 🙂

      1. I can’t believe how much I have connected with people. I initially thought this wouldn’t be very personal considering it is a virtual interaction. I’m getting to know people better and relate to people more than people I come across in “real life”…

      2. I’m finding the same. And I’ve only been at it a month 🙂
I’m spending more time exploring other blogs at the moment, as opposed to building up my own content. But pen & paper are always on hand to write when a thought strikes me!

      3. I started a couple of years ago. Came back to it, deleted my first blog because I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to blog about or where it was going. Started over and now I’ve been writing consistently for about a month. This is the first time I’ve networked and I’m loving all of the blogs I’m finding and bloggers I’m connecting with. I noticed in your “About Me” that you weren’t sure what to do with your blog. I was there recently and personally making a daily topic has helped me to stay on track as far as writing everyday and helps me to stick to what I want my blog to embody. If you have a Google account, I recommend Google docs for writing, ideas jotting, etc because it can be updated from any device at any time. I’m one to misplace the paper and forget what I wrote just as quickly as I wrote it. So an online version of pen and paper that auto-saves frequently is perfect for me because whether I’m walking, cooking, or just waking up I can type to talk to text what I’m inspired by. At this point I have various documents to keep myself organized better. Sorry for such a long comment, didn’t mean to go on a tangent, I just thought maybe it was something you’d be interested in.

      4. No need to apologise, it’s always interesting to hear about what others have discovered about the blogging experience. I do have a google account so I will check google docs out. I have some rough ideas – I know I want to do regular travel snapshots and book reviews. I also want to do pieces that somehow connect to emotions, in myself and others. I’m not entirely sure I want to post daily, at least not at this stage. Although, I’ve seen the A-Z challenge coming up in April & I think I’ll try that! 🙂

      5. It’s all about what you want to get out of it. For me there is nothing worse than having great ideas pop in my head, not writing them down and then forgetting them 😦 so Goodgle docs takes care of that. As for posting daily, you don’t have to, that’s just a goal I have for myself because I wrote daily almost my whole life then stopped writing all together for years. I have found that I have gotten more out of my blog by putting my thoughts down and organizing them though. I’m doing the A-Z challenge and it seems like just that, a challenge! The one I’m doing right now is a daily post but at least it is a daily topic. I already have ideas and rough drafts going for the A-Z and I might start writing at the end of next month and schedule the first week of posts so I can keep up 😮

      6. Great idea, scheduling ahead. I may try a similar approach. Don’t think I’ll limit myself to a theme. I might just go with whatever first pops into my head for each letter! I can totally relate to not wanting to forget ideas. I had started by putting mine in my phone but Google docs will be much more practical. Thanks again for the tip!

    1. Hi May, lovely to meet you too. And thank you for following 🙂 so pleased you like the photos! I never used to pay much attention to my photography when travelling but in recent years it’s become more of a focus.

      1. Me too! I love travelling, if I had all the money in the world, I’d discover all the four corners of the world. I’m trying to fulfill the quote “Every year, travel somewhere you’ve never been.”

      2. Haha! Me too – my family & friends would hardly ever see me! I would love to explore somewhere new every year. My problem is, lately I get stuck re-visiting favourite places. But I have a few new countries coming up later this year.

      3. I know how this feels, when you fall in love with a place and dream of going back there again and again! But nothing beats the moment of “AHHHH” whenever you see or experience a country for the first time.

    1. Hi Steph! Lovely to meet you. Always nice to encounter another introvert too. The overthinking is a killer isn’t it?! I’ve just had another sleepless night thanks to a brain that won’t take the hint & let the rest of the body sleep 🙂
Thanks for stopping by & I look forward to getting to know you! Kim

    1. It is funny, isn’t it? I’ve only been blogging since January and yet I’ve found I’ve made all these wonder connections with likeminded people … People I have so many similarities to but also just enough differences to make it interesting and to allow me to learn from them and their life experiences. It’s incredible to me to think that such a big world has become so much more intimate over the years. It’s such a pleasure getting to know people like yourself 🙂

  6. Thanks a lot Kim for visiting my blog. It’s been a little while that I have started my journey as a designer. Me being an introvert too, just like you I want to travel the world and explore new ideas out there. Happy browsing my diary. Keep inspiring.

  7. Is this a new update? I guess I missed this page! We share one more thing in common – we’re both introverts. Have you read the book ‘Quiet’ by Susan Cain? I’ve yet to read it, but did watch her talk on TED. I think you’d like it. 🙂

    1. Lol. Nope, not a new update. But I’ve changed the layout of my blog from what it was originally and the “about” menu is more obvious now.
Always nice to meet a fellow introvert 😀 I haven’t read “Quiet” – thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely have a look at it!

  8. Hi there, I’ve nominated you for a Mystery Blogger Award as I’ve enjoyed your blog so much! Accepting the award was actually quite a lot of effort so I completely understand if you don’t want to accept it 🙂 If you do, all the (quite detailed…) instructions are on my blog. Cheers, Barb.
