Guests at a bush BBQ

Today’s post for the A-Z Challenge is a little different. I’m not taking us to a location starting with “G” as I’ve done with the previous letters. I’m going to tell you a story about some memorable guests on an African safari in late August 2015. My friend Geraint & I were staying at nThambo Tree Camp in the Klaserie Private Reserve in Kruger National Park, South Africa. This amazing treehouse style lodge is one of the few places he & I will be returning to on our upcoming trip in August this year … that should give you a hint at how wonderful this particular safari lodge is! It was our fourth night of safari and as is normal practice we set out for our late afternoon game drive around 4pm. Continue reading “Guests at a bush BBQ”

CFFC: Single Flowers

Hello everybody! I’m back online after having a little digital detox over the last fortnight. Just a well earned break to refresh and unwind – but more on that in another post. I’m sure I’ll have a stack of posts to catch up on and I’m looking forward to reading about what adventures you’ve all been on lately. I’m reigniting my return with a submission for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – this week the theme is single flowers. I have to confess, taking photos of flowers isn’t really something that I did until my most recent trip. Despite that, Continue reading “CFFC: Single Flowers”

CB&W: hiding or camouflaged

This week’s theme for Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge is … hiding or camouflaged. Those who have read some of my travel posts will know that I love South Africa and the wildlife encounters to be had in the magnificent Kruger National Park. Part of the thrill of a safari is finding the animals … it’s just incredible how difficult they can be to spot! I’ve converted two of my photos from my latest trip into black and white for submission to this challenge …  Continue reading “CB&W: hiding or camouflaged”

Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 22 – Group

Time for a new theme for Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge … this time it’s Group. I won’t lie, when I first saw the theme I was thinking ” I don’t have any group shots!”. You see, my first thought on seeing the word “group” was a photo of a group of people. I have a thing about people photos … I just don’t like taking them. I don’t know why. I just want to photograph landscapes and wildlife 🙂   Continue reading “Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 22 – Group”

CFFC: The Colours Blue & White

I don’t know what it is about April but this seems to be the month that I’ve decided to embrace blogging challenges. I’ve just been introduced to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge and couldn’t resist putting up a photo for this week’s theme The Colours Blue and White: Continue reading “CFFC: The Colours Blue & White”

Snapshot – Kruger

Time for another travel snapshot! And this one is going to be fairly photo heavy. I recently read a post by my friend, Niki, entitled Dream Destination and it got me thinking about one of my dream destinations. It’s a place I’ve been fortunate enough to have visited a couple of times and I’m always looking for the next opportunity to return. It’s Kruger National Park (or more specifically Greater Kruger) in South Africa. My first visit there was Continue reading “Snapshot – Kruger”
